Repairing Corroded Span-Crete Box Planks with Fortress ReGrid® in Wisconsin
The Challenge
A Wisconsin home with Span-Crete box planking over the crawlspace was facing severe structural issues due to major rebar corrosion. The deterioration compromised tensile strength, threatening the stability of the concrete planking system.
The Solution
Fortress Stabilization installed Carbon Kevlar® ReGrid® straps to reinforce the areas of failed rebar. Strap spacing was designed based on the amount of tensile strength lost from corrosion damage. The remaining steel rebar was treated with anti-corrosion cleaning and treatment, followed by the application of 5000 psi grout to encapsulate and protect the steel. Finally, the top side of the slab was waterproofed with one-component poly caulk to prevent future moisture intrusion.
The Outcome
The Span-Crete box planking was fully stabilized with a composite reinforcement system that restored structural integrity and prevented further corrosion. The homeowner gained confidence in the long-term performance of their foundation with minimal disruption compared to full slab replacement.
Why It Matters
Fortress ReGrid® systems deliver superior strength, corrosion resistance, and longevity, making them ideal for reinforcing aging concrete plank systems in residential or commercial applications where traditional repairs fall short.
